Portraits can offer a glimpse into the soul of the subject, showing not only what a person looks like, but also revealing something of their personality. And, more than simple documentation, it is the artist’s interpretation that creates a work of art. It should be a collaborative effort between artist and subject. The human body and face will always be fascinating subjects for artists, whether it is through commissioned work or just for exploration.
